Ithaca, NY - Next Insight would like to announce that on March 17th, 2003, a trip planning web site developed for Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit (TCAT) will be available to the public. A critical addition to TCAT, the new web site is designed to make the city of Ithaca's public transportation system easier to use. The web site allows users to create itineraries between either bus stops or landmarks.
These itineraries will make it much easier for TCAT's 3 million annual riders to get around using the bus system. TCAT currently offers approximately 45 routes, and the use of landmarks as well as bus stops promises to make the bus system more accessible to many of TCAT's riders, who are new to Ithaca each year.
Next Insight's software includes a data management site that allows TCAT to make all schedule changes easily and quickly. Riders will see up to date schedules, as well as service announcements and delay information. Featured on the web site is the ability to create a profile. Riders can login and see information about routes and trips that are personal to them. The web site will also collect valuable statistics about the needs of TCAT's riders, allowing TCAT to allocate their resources to better serve their riders.
Next Insight was founded in 2002 and seeks to help transit organizations improve operational efficiency and increase ridership, primarily through web based software.
