For Immediate Release
Rockland County, New York, October 13, 2004 – Next Insight Transportation Software, LLC, the leading provider of Web-based trip planning solutions for transit agencies, announced today that it has signed-on Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority (MMVTA) as the latest client for its Journey Planner product. This unique software offering will enable MMVTA riders to plan their trips online, to store personalized information, to see system announcements, and to check their bus stop and route schedules.
The Mid Mon Valley Transit Agency (MMVTA) provides public transportation services in the Mon Valley and also direct service to Pittsburgh. Marc Roncone, Public Relations Specialist manager for MMVTA anticipates “increased ridership and loyalty as a result of better communication with our customers”. “In addition”, he says, “the agency will benefit from decreased operational costs from lower call center workload and easier schedule maintenance.”
Cary Shapiro, CTO of Next Insight, said that the company is excited about having its first client outside of its home base in New York State. “We have several small and mid-size transit agencies around the country now evaluating our software. They’ve seen the success that our flagship client, TCAT [Tompkins (N.Y.) Consolidated Area Transit], has had with the Journey Planner, where ridership has increased despite fare increases”.
